Default Grand Canyon win shares

I didn't see how this would fit well in any of the baseball related forums so I thought I'd put it here. For our 10th anniversary, the wife and I spent the last 5 days or so up on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It's a rather secluded place where you won't find a TV or a newspaper inside the lodge, but the view is breathtaking on the veranda in back.

So I'm sitting there enjoying the view one morning reading a player forecasting book put out by Ron Shandler while waiting for the wife to join me for some breakfast. I happened to glance at a stranger's reading material in the chair next to me and was suprised to find him reading Bill James' book on win shares. I say I was suprised because up to that point all I'd seen were nature related field guides, or heard voices with thick European accents. Didn't want to start up a conversation with the stranger for fear of breaking up his morning solitude(the Grand Canyon has that effect on me), but I did find some solace in knowing that I was sharing my seat on the edge of the world with a fellow baseball fan. Odd that I found a bit of comfort with that, but it somehow added to the morning reflections.

And the world, once again, just got a bit smaller.

It is like when you meet someone else that plays Fantasy baseball. No one else understands what you are talking about but you automatically have a bond with the person.
