2) The Brewers placed LF Geoff Jenkins on the 15 day DL and called up OF Ryan Thompson.

Thompson has a .726 career OPS, compared to his league average of .759, and -35 RCAA in 355 games, spread out since 1992.

3) Expos P Tony Armas Jr. had to leave yesterday's game, in the 1st, after being hit by line drive from Mike Sweeney. X-rays were negative.

After a 4.03 ERA/14 RSAA as a 23 year old in his first full season in the majors in 2001, Armas is off to a 4.03 ERA/3 RSAA start in his first 15 starts.

4) BlueJays SS Chris Woodward had to leave yesterday's game, due to tightness in his left groin, and is day to day.

After a .600 OPS/-18 RCAA in 88 games over the past 3 years, Woodward's off to a .621 SLG, .333 OBA, .954 OPS, 4 RCAA start in his first 23 games.

5) Brewers OF Matt Stairs was scratched from yesterday's lineup, due to a tight right hamstring.

After -6 RCAA/.747 OPS and 9 RCAA/.820 OPS seasons the past 2 years, Stairs is off to a .294 SLG, .263 OBA, .557 OPS, -3 RCAA start in his first 31 games (57 PA). He has a .849 career OPS, compared to his league average of .780, and 84 RCAA in 849 games.

6) The Angels placed OF Julio Ramirez on the 15 day DL, retroactive to June 16, and

Ramirez has a strained left calf. He's off to a .500 SLG, .370 OBA, .870 OPS, 1 RCAA start in his first 20 games (27 PA) and has a .448 career OPS and -8 RCAA in 57 games (88 PA) over the past 4 years (3 in which he appeared in the majors--1999, 2001-02).

They are expected to call up a pitcher today to take his spot on the roster.

7) The Royals activated P Chris George from the DL and sent him to the minors, where he already was, on a rehab assignment.

8) The Expos have replaced Carl Pavano in the rotation with Masato Yoshii.

The Expos hoped Pavano's 3.06 ERA/17 RSAA in 2000, at the age of 24, was a sign of a breakout season. But, he followed that up with a 6.33 ERA/-8 RSAA in 8 starts last year and has a 6.30 ERA/-16 RSAA in 15 games (14 starts) this season.

After 5.85 ERA/6 RSAA (in Coors) and 4.78 ERA/-1 RSAA seasons the past 2 years, Yoshii's off to a 4.93 ERA/-3 RSAA start in his first 16 games (5 starts). He has a 4.74 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.43, and 5 RSAA in 147 games.

9) The Rockies sent P Brian Fuentes to the minors and activated P Rick White from the DL.

After a 4.63 ERA/-1 RSAA in 10 games as a 25 year old rookie with the 2001 Mariners, Fuentes is off to a 4.50 ERA/0 RSAA start in his first 7 games.

After 3.62 ERA/14 RSAA and 3.88 ERA/2 RSAA seasons the past 2 years, White's off to a 4.98 ERA/-1 RSAA start in his first 21 games. He has a 3.98 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.55, and 33 RSAA in 301 games.

10) Mariners P Paul Abbott was diagnosed with a torn labrum and will have season ending surgery next Thursday.

After 4.22 ERA/6 RSAA and 4.25 ERA/-2 RSAA seasons the past 2 years, Abbott finishes with a 11.96 ERA/-22 RSAA in 7 games (5 starts). He has a 4.64 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.59, and -15 RSAA in 132 games.

11) The Tigers sent OF Craig Monroe to the minors and activated OF Jacob Cruz from the DL.

Monroe was 0 for 4 in 5 games.

After a .636 OPS/-14 RCAA in 72 games with the Indians and Rockies in 2001, the first time the 29 year old played in more than 33 games, Cruz is off to a .407 SLG, .384 OBA, .792 OPS, 3 RCAA start in his first 33 games.

12) The Indians sent OF Chad Allen to the minors and called up OF Todd Dunwoody.

Allen was 1 for 10 in 5 games and has a .727 career OPS, compared to his league average of .781, and -25 RCAA in 214 games.

Dunwoody has a .628 career OPS, compared to his league average of .778, and -49 RCAA in 294 games.

13) Famed Cardinals broadcaster Jack Buck died at the age of 77.

14) Yesterday's Rangers-Cubs game was the first game in MLB history featuring 4 players who were already members of the 400 HR club--Sammy Sosa (475), Rafael Palmeiro (hit #460 yesterday), Fred McGriff (459) and Juan Gonzalez (401).

15) Indians RF Matt Lawton had to leave yesterday's game, due to a bruised right quadriceps.
