I remember that Tiger took some BP as a guest of Griffey ... I think it was in spring training. Does anyone know how he did? I get the sense from body type and concentration that he could probably be a fair hitter. No idea if he can run or field.
I also like thinking that John Daly could be the next Babe. At least he looks like the Babe and used to drink and carouse like the Babe. I'm not that much of a golf fan, but I'm guessing there are more golfers that could be decent ballplayers. Anyone?

I suspect the reverse is more accurate. I think ballplayers have a better chance of becoming good golfers than vice versa.

I think there's a lot of John Kruk-types in golf. Justin Leonard always seemed to me like he's a bit of an athlete too.

Will: He hit some hard, and did altogether well.
KC: You're right. Golfers can be great golfers without being in particular shape. Even "out of shape" baseball players like mo vaughn work out, etc. Poorme: Justin Leonard runs marathons, for what it's worth. Anyway, I'm of the belief that Tiger would excel in anything he had chosen to do, especially sports. The reason he's so dominant is that he's more naturally athletically talented than Ken Griffey or Jim Brown, and has a work ethic and competetiveness rivaled only by Michael Jordan.** **I honestly don't believe I'm overstating either his athleticism nor his competetiveness/work ethic. Seriously. |

I don't think it's possible to overstate his competitiveness. Nobody is harder on themselves in any sport than Tiger. Maybe it comes from the public having higher expectations of him than of any other athlete, but I think it's also a drive that he was born with. He's the only guy who won't be surprised or satisfied with having a 4-5 stroke lead after 2 rounds of a major. |

The book on Tiger is that he can murder a low pitch, but can't catch up to high heat.
I'm just making this up, BTW. |
