Default Strongest Power Hitter Ever...

Who in your opinion is the strongest power hitter all time?

My vote has to go to Jimmie Foxx and Mickey Mantle. But there are so many who deserve that award.

"Strongest" power hitter...Capital Punisher is the first guy that comes to mind, because at 6'7", 255 lbs. as a generous estimate, strong is a requirement.
Big Klu would probably be the next guy that I think of. He's the reason for those fashionable Reds jerseys because his massive arms wouldn't fit in them. He must've parked a lot of homers into the seats at Crosley. And I just love saying Kluszewski.

The answer to this question could, reasonably, be Glen Braggs. Should not the question be "Who consistently hit them the furthest?"

Also, we have no idea how strong Brouthers, Delahanty, or Dave Orr were, because of the time they played in. Some of the parks, like the Polo Grounds, and Griffith Stadium, were really anti-homer as well.

Have you guys seen the guns on Ted Kluzewski and Steve Bilko, though?

Glenn Braggs was (and maybe still is) married to one of the members of En Vogue. For that, he has my utmost respect.

I would have to go with Mark McGwire. His blasts were amazing and he was doing it before 1998, before the last expansion. I would also have to say King Kong Kingman was mighty strong. You don't get a nick name like that if you don't have strength.

I grew up on references to the size, strength, and power of Big Klu so he's the benchmark in my mind. Foxx, Killer and McGwire are the other three that come immediately to mind.

Speaking only of players that I've seen play: end of career bulked up McGwire, Canseco, and Bo Jackson. One time I saw an analysis of who's homers went the farthest on average and Pete Incaviglia came out on top.

I think Frank Howard was. I have a great Frank Howard - Lou Piniella story to explain this but that is for another time.

Bo Jackson couldn't be far out of this. After all he broke a bat over his head.

I was (obviously) young when he did that... but i remember it well... scary... [also climbing the wall for that catch was cool]

Yeah, it should be 'one who hit them the furthest most consistantly.'
