Living in the Pacific Time Zone means:
- That all World Series games start at 5:30. You will not see the first inning, but the game ends at 9. - Monday Night Football starts at 6. You can watch the whole game and then not be late for work the next day. - The Super Bowl starts at 3 p.m. - Those day games in the east start at 10:05. The coffee's barely kicked in and they're playing baseball somewhere. Thank whatever higher power there is for Game Tracker. |

Bad, Who Cares, Bad, Good. The thought of baseball at 10 a.m. is strangely compelling. ![]() |

As someone on the East Coast, I have to admit, when the team I root for makes the Cali-swing, 90% of the time, they might as well be playing in Japan - - I'm only going to get to see a few innings of the games.
I hate that, having to wait until AM to find out if your team won or lost, feeling. I would take missing the first couple of innings as I drive home (hell, it happens now!) and a Sunday 10 AM game in place of that in a minute! I think the Left Coasters get the better end of the deal.

When I visit the West Coast, I'm jealous that everything ends so early out there. It seems strange getting back to a hotel room at 5, turning on ESPN, and seeing a game already in the third inning.
Sure, baseball in the mornings is different, but not in a bad way. And there's nothing worse than having to stay up past 1 a.m. just to watch a compelling matchup that happens to be played out west. I'd take the early-in-the-day matchups over the late nights anytime. |

I envy the Westies....you can watch Monday Night Football and still get to bed on time. Plus west coast baseball, etc.

I dig the fact that baseball is on in the A.M. For that matter NFL games start at 10 am also.
It's a morning ritual for the wife and I . We get coffee and click on a game.( After Sesame Street of course) I'm usually the 1st one up so I catch a little Sports Center at around 6 am or 7 and start the day off full of sports knowledge. |

This is the first time I have ever heard of anyone bragging about the West Coast time zone from a sports perspective. Those of us who live in the Central time zone have always felt we were the ones blessed with the best set of starting and ending times.

Boomer - I'd settle for Central time too. That'd be just fine. Even bring the games/shows/news/etc. forward one hour would be good. From here, if I go about an hour north, south, or west I'm in Central time anyway. Not sure I really need a 5am sunrise though.

Maybe Mountain time. Central is still a bit late for those of us with wee ones. Since Indiana is the Land Time Forgot, we're on central now. (Eastern Standard, technically).
Damn legislature.... |

You guys are screwy, Smed. I get tired of the big feature about time zones, Indiana, and legislation that our newspaper feels compelled to run annually.

The best is Hawaii time. NFL games at 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. then you get the rest of the day. The west coast is only good for watching our own teams. MNF is at 6:00 p.m. but I do not get home until 7:30. When I go to the East Coast to visit the in-laws each summer I like their times because everything is closer to night time which frees up the day time.

There's nothing better than chillin in the yard with a cup of joe , maybe doing a little gardening while blasting a ball game.
