Reggie Sanders gets the prize for this one:
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxsco...9&awayTeam=ari O for 7. Big collar. Thought I just saw yesterday that the record is 0 for 11 set in May 1920. As a a fan, if you're at the game - - a night game - - do you stay all 18? |

Absolutely. I don't understand people who leave early, the game's not over until the last out is called. It's only time and it's only sleep...what's the big deal?

Sleep? This game probably ended near 1 AM local time - - which means the average person got hom near 2 AM. Yeah, that would be doable. I'm up that late some weeknights anyway.

If you're a fan, you're staying. If you got the tix from someone who could not go and you thought it would be a" fun night out", you're home in bed long before the 12th. Personal days were designed for situations like this. Mex |

Agreed Mex - - personally, I would kick myself if I left in the 15th and the game went 27 to set a record.
One caveat - - food and restrooms - - - I know someone who stayed for a 20-something inning game back in the '50s, and he said it got a little ugly. No food. Restrooms really dirty. And, that was back in the day when people were a little more polite! |

I have an answer for the food part. I actually picked this tip up from my namesake (sombrero guy at the Met's home opener). Bring your own!!! He had enough food underneath his seat to feed the entire row. Now about the bathrooms, well, that could be a problem. If I stopped drinking in the 7th when they cut off beer sales, I probably don't have to visit the facilities again. But my guess is that the bathroom ladies leave when the beer guys do, so I can only imagine what the restrooms look like after 15 innings!! Mex |

Stay for all 18? That is a tough one. I consider myself a pretty big fan and I have left in the eighth inning a number of times with the game over. (Yanks/Oakland Game 4 ALDS last year). I was more than miserable.
But a 0-0 game going into the 18th, I would absolutely stay, I like watching the pitching, the pase of the game is very good. If it was a 17-11 game going into the 9th, I would probably be home already. For me it depends on the game, and even more than that who I am with. Bunch of guys, probably, but if I was with a girl, (Jen you are the exception not the rule) I don't know of too many who would stay for 18 innings and then go home and be all excited. I have a roomate who is female and I had to watch so many episodes of friends, the real world, and survivor just to secure the tv for october. I hate that tribal council guy. Wish I could just kick his ass! |

I stayed through a 15 inning game at Camden Yards a few years ago. There was a "7th inning stretch, part 2" in the 14th inning! After a while, it became a bit of a challenge for my friends and I to see if we could hang in there until the end of the game. As I recall, it was after 1:30 when the game finally ended. And the Orioles won, so we were happy.
Mind you, we all grabbed a handful of napkins from one of the hot dog stands before we went to the rest room after the game because we figured there might not be any toilet paper left (and we were right)! |

I even stay in blowouts - - just for the chance that I might see something that's never been done before - - - - Like a guy hitting on out of the entire park, or unassisted triple plays in back to back innings, or, even, heaven forbid, you could be witnessing the last play or AB of some great player if he gets hurt.
Beauty of baseball, every time the pitcher winds, you never know what will happen next. |

Think about having a nickel for everytime you said or heard someone say that something just couldn't happen the instant before it did.
I don't know about you, but I'd be rich already. |
