Default Cadaco - All-Star Baseball

I was reading some old posts about baseball board games. I don't think I remember anyone posting about All-Star Baseball.

This game gave You had discs for each player. Does anyone remember playing this game?

My brother and I use to create whole seasons with this game.

I had it. The best hitting pitcher was Mel Stottlemyre. The worst was Dean Chance.
I HAD to have Rico Petrocelli at short.
Don Kessinger was horrible.
You had to put the cardboard disc in a slot that had an arrow that you spun. Whatever it landed on is what you got....single , double, etc.
I think I still have it at my folks house in their attic.....at least I hope I do.
My buddies and I would do seasons, series, whatever.
Now I gotta find....I feel like playing it.

I pulled mine out today.

When I was a kid, I had the All Time Greats. Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, and Ty Cobb to name a few.

In order to make the draft from all of these players fair I would toss the players discs into the box top and shuffle them around upside down and then pull them out one at a time to be placed on different teams.

My brother still has some of our old discs at his house. He also made a few up himself for him and I.

Default Memories

God that takes me back. I had the 1977 version and I played with my brother all the time. Then we got the Hall of Fame version. We did the same "blind" draft with the discs upside-down. I always got stuck with Dave Brancroft at short. NOT GOOD. The HOF version also included a battery powered spinner to reduce cheating. The manual spinners would get warped and seem to stop at the same places. I would love to spend an evening with my brother playing All Star or Sports Illustrated (1971 edition). Those were magical times that unfortunatly seem gone forever.

I think they just stop making it a few years ago. I would like to get a bunch of those discs.

Hey, I made several hundred dollars selling old Strat-O-Matic cards on ebay. All-Star doesn't have the same following, but I bet the old fans are still out there.
