When does his term end? I bet Minnesotans are just dying to get him out of there.

I don't think we should jump on Ventura because he won't spend tax money on a baseball stadium. Is there going to be some kind of referendum on spending tax money for it?
I'm not up to speed on their efforts, so can anyone tell me if they're planning on spending exisiting tax money or whether they're going to institute some kind of new levy? |

More nonsense
You know, people get all hot an bothered by people on public assistance, yet applaud these fools blackmailing the public with a new stadium, which amounts to corporate welfare for multi millionaires and billionaires...not one penny of public money for this ,nothing...let them raise it privately,no cost overrruns, not as much lining pockets...build libraries, parks and schools

I'm with Jesse. The teams should fund their own ballparks.

No kidding! And if the teams can't fund the ballpark, then let the rest of MLB kick in some cash. If you want to force teams to share revenues in order to help their business thrive, one of the first things we have to do is stop bailing them out all the time. It's bad enough that we have to pay $100 just for a couple of people to attend a game. And they want us to build the stadium on top of that? I don't mind some public money going towards a new stadium, but it has to be something like matching funds, not just doling out cash to rich team owners. |

Taxes on airport fees, hotel rooms, rental cars, etc. are probably the best way to fund one. Not an increase in sales tax or gasoline tax. Maybe an extra nickel on a pack of smokers or a penny a beer? |

Refer back to the Forbes Magazine report on the state of baseball finances and you get a clear picture of what a pack of liars the owners and the " Commissioner" are. Let the owners build their own parks.I mean ,do the taxpayers get any kind of voucher for so many free games after ponying up to keep their teams in town? Don't think so. |

Does anybody know, what was the first publically funded ballpark? I am assuming this is a fairly recent movement.

mini-digression:
today in my philosophy of law class, we were discussing theories of property distributions. one theorist, in criticizing socialist-type theories of redistribution of resources, noted that it encourages some to be lazy and benefit from everyone else and not produce. I leaned over to my friend and said, "Just like the Brewers." ![]() |

A penny a beer??!! Are you crazy? If they were to do that in Florida it would cost me $876,231 annually! ![]() |

Well, since you live in Florida, you must be rich, right?? Seriously, .06 per six pack. A dime on a bottle of wine or a fifth. A nickel on something you order in a bar. That'll all add up real quick. |

I didn't even read the article when I wrote this, I just assumed he was his usually idiot self. He actually is right for once. I guess I should have read before I opened my big fat mouth. |
