According to Lee's recent batch of emails, Brady Anderson is tied for the AL lead in RCAA.
Please keep an eye out for comets, tidal wave, fiery balls of death, and our planet suddenly combusting. -m ps - this is an "apocalyptic" situation in my book - something that should never ever happen, even 5 games into the season. This is not to be confused with a "rip in the space time continuum" situation, which is what would happen if Rick Ankiel pitched to Alfonso Soriano. |

In his best season, 1996, Brady was 6th in the AL in RCAA. He was a good player for a few years, just not in the past few.

Be aware that he played three games against the Tigers. It seems like all the small sample size Giants are coming against the Tigers. Brady is the best hitter in the AL and the Devil Rays were in first.

Why is anyone surprised? Brady's OBP is normally .110 higher than his BA.
As recently as 2000, Brady had a .375 OBP. It was over .400 the year before. Sure, if you go by OPS, he has fairly average numbers since 1996; but if you go by OBP TIMES SLG, which is a far more accurate indicator of production, he is right up there. This year is no different. Brady has played in 13 games as a part-timer and defensive replacement (he has been great in centerfield), and fans are screaming for him to be dumped because he has a .172 BA. Well, so what? He has a .375 OBP, 2nd best on the team behind Ellis Burks. Fans SHOULD be screaming because he isn't getting ENOUGH playing time. Fans are stupid. Batting average doesn't make runs. OBP does, more so than any other indicator. Last edited by Ytown Tribe fan : 04-25-2002 at 08:12 AM. |

I have yet to see a post by a stupid fan (other than my own)-- on THIS forum.
Visit cleveland.com Tribe forum sometime, Boomer. Between the death threats and personal ads, you will find a few actual baseball posts. The people who post there would rather see Milton Bradley and his .310 OBA leading off and playing average defense in CF than Brady and his .375 OBA and stellar defense. That's just dumb and it doesn't help the team score runs. |

Bradley's OBP is .368, at least according to ESPN. In 29 ABs, Anderson has walked 9 times. projecting to 155 over 500 ABs. Seems like an anomoly to me. But maybe he's found the fountain of youth.

I think we need another month of data, then we can see if we need to look out the window to see a replica of the cover of "Animals" by Pink Floyd in our atmosphere....

You know, for all the talk of Brady hitting .167, how come no one is clamoring for Thome to be benched? He's hitting just .181
