Chan Ho Park observations
Anyone else see the Ranger / As opener Monday night? Chan Ho did not look good. I was wondering why he was throwing so many offspeed pitches until I heard about his recurring hamstring injury. Does ot make sense that the injury keeps him from pushing off on his fastball, thus relying on offspeed stuff?
Thanks. I m new to the forum, but plan to be an active participant so long as I am welcome. David |

David, welcome! Looking forward to your active participation.
As for Park, I heard tonight that he underwent an MRI, it didn't look good, and he'll be missing at least his next start. Doesn't bode too well for Texas's attempt to avoid a 2001 redux.

From watching a lot of Dodger games, I can tell you that Chan Ho, like a lot of power pitchers, gets his velocity from his lower half, and when he lost it last year, it was usually due to some strain or pull. Though I would think it would affect his control more.

I have to believe that Chan Ho has a good chance to be a bust. Not only did he go from a pitcher's park to a hitter's park, but know he is dealing with nagging injuries. I was wondering who was going to overpay for Chan Ho and the Rangers definitely stepped up.

Even though he is in a hitter's park he has better hitters behind him than facing him.
You hate to judge a player on one outing, but Chan Ho sucked Monday night. He is going to have to get it together or the Rangers' just wasted another wad of dough.
