Default Catalanotto and the Rangers

Anyone think Narron will give in to his GM and give Frank significant time at 2b? His bat shifted there gets Rusty Greer more at bats in the outfield, but he's also a downgrade from Young defensively. And does it really matter at all, since their pitching can't get them out of the cellar anyway?

If they go with just 12 position players, Frankie will play everywhere.

Frankie playing 2B, well, have you seen him? He has as much business being there as Matt Stairs would. Zippo range.

Shhh! Don't tell Narron - I could use 2B eligibility for Frankie in one of my fantasy leagues

He's been there before. He can be a stop gap....I've seen Manny Alexander try to play third!

No, he just played a third baseman on TV.

He was the scourge of the Cubs before he was the scourge of the Sox.

As far as Frankie goes, the 3-man bench Texas is using now may present some unique postions being attempted on an emergency basis.

Check the numbers - in 89 innings there last year, his range was rock bottom. One step each way. Not good. Texas has enough hitting - - they can afford to play a guy at 2B who will make plays.

Catolanotto needs a regular position, and if it's 2B, so be it.

Catolanotto is a quality regular, with the potential to be a minor star, at least. He would thrive if given a regular job. He will not produce up to his 2001 levels if kept in his "utility" role. He's not Tony Phillips.

I'd rather have a guy who can hit, but not field, over a guy that can field, but not hit. The Mets would have been better off moving Alfonzo to SS and keeping Zeile at 3B, rather than keeping Rey Ordonez, the offensive zero, in the lineup. DEFENSE IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS OFFENSE!!! If a player can't steal first, his Gold Glove is only valuble at the pawn shop.

The most important thing in baseball is to get 27 outs - - until then, you cannot win. If you don't have guys to make the plays to get those outs, you cannot win the game. There is no mercy rule in MLB.

Starting for a week or two at most. Filling in on occasion to give a rest. Not a long-term solution.

His range wasn't that awful in 2000. It's hard to see beforehand because he was used in a lot of partial innings.

If you play him 145 games at 2B you'd be in trouble. If you spot him there as an occasional fill in to get another bat in the lineup, you'd be allright.

Doesn't going with 13 pitchers pre-suppose Narron's gonna be doing this?

Yeah, or they may throw Perry there too for a few innings.

I bet I-Rod breaks down again because of over-use.
