Exclamation NetShrine Gallery Is Redesigned

The NetShrine Gallery was launched three years and two months ago. The format of the Gallery remained unchanged in all that time - until now.

Effective today, the NetShrine Gallery will no longer will contain wings for Immortals, The Grinders, Under Appreciated, Icons of an Era, Significant Achievers, and Peripherals. From this date forward, the NetShrine Gallery will solely house wings for Apicals, Supernals, Icons, and Contributors (by the era which applies).

After long and careful consideration, the decision was that NetShrine is better under this new format.

It's best to visit the Gallery at
http://www.netshrine.com/gallery.html
to understand how this redesign comes into play.

In case you're wondering, the new "distribution" of NetShrine Gallery Inductees, by Era, by Wing is:

19th Century Era - 91
* Apicals - 21
* Supernals - 27
* Icons - 35
* Contributors - 8

Dead Ball Era - 93
* Apicals - 16
* Supernals - 21
* Icons - 49
* Contributors - 7

Lively Ball Era - 171
* Apicals - 25
* Supernals - 27
* Icons - 101
* Contributors - 18

Integration Era - 106
* Apicals - 13
* Supernals - 13
* Icons - 67
* Contributors - 13

Expansion Era - 122
* Apicals - 24
* Supernals - 19
* Icons - 65
* Contributors - 14

Free Agency Era - 113
* Apicals - 13
* Supernals - 12
* Icons - 84
* Contributors - 4

Long Ball Era - 7
* Apicals - 2
* Supernals - 2
* Icons - 3
* Contributors - 0

Check it out - use this thread to provide some feedback. Thanks.

Great job on the redesign, except ...

What's up with the names. If you want to keep those visitors who wander into the site, why not use terms they're likely to know. Very few will know what Apical means, probably not many more know supernal except perhaps as a guess (present company excepted, of course). Comes off sort of elitist sounding.

A minor quibble over an otherwise excellent piece of work.

HM, Wiz, Skip - thanks.

Skip - - I labored on the names - wanted something that was unique. The old titles, well, that was not something that was unique to NetShrine. Elitist sounding? I can see that - though it's not the intent. More so, just trying to do something to set the NetShrine distinction apart.

Looks great Steve...and educational...I consider myself to have a decent vocabulary and had not heard the word apical before...I thought the old gallery was great, but the new one is awesome!

Thanks Luna - - for those who were not aware:

Apical - Of, relating to, located at, or constituting an apex.

The redesign looks excellent. I like the new names makes us stretch our vocabulary a little.

Steve -- quick question...when I did a search for a player, it brought up the old "era" and then of course it was not found, when I clicked on it...will the search option be updated with the new format?

The search database is updated every Sunday night. I missed the last cycle. (My host does the updating.) By next week, it should be OK. I will also have the updated directory ready by then. Who were you looking for? I can tell you where he is.
