Thumbs down

A respectable journeyman pitcher. Wasn't he mentioned in "The Glory of Their Times" when the author went to see a baseball at Yale?? Seems like the author went there to interviw Smoky Joe Wood and the game was Darling versus Viola.

Glory of Their Times was written in 1966. Darling and Viola were only 6 year olds then.

Mea Culpa. The account was recorded in Roger Angell's 1982 book The Web of the Game.
