He pitched in the major leagues from 1916 to 1928.

Man, this is baseball. You gotta stop thinking. Just have fun.
- Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez, in The Sandlot

I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

Have you read The Baseball Same Game?

Thumbs up

Only lasted 13 seasons with the majority for hapless Browns. Did get to pitch for a few years with Ruth Yankees of the mid-1920's. Had a very nice ERA+ of 124. Sadly died at age 37 in 1928.

I've always thought of Shocker as a dark horse HOF candidate. Why Hoyt and Pennock are in and he's not eludes me -- they were all on the '27 Yankees, no? I guess it's not breaking 200 wins, but he's plainly better season-by-season than those other guys.
