Frederick Charles Merkle
He played in the major leagues from 1907 to 1926.

I honestly never understood the big mistake Merkle made
so he didn't touch second he saw the winning run cross the plate and thought the game was over he was young and inexperienced, it wasn't like he was a wizened old vet who'd been in the game for 20 years |
