I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

Have you read The Baseball Same Game?

Thumbs up

Joss hurled for the Indians from 1902 to 1910. He died just before the 1911 season from an attack of tuburcular meningitis. He was such a popular player that Opening Day was postponed so players could attend his funeral. He won two ERA titles and one year led the league in wins. He is career ERA+ is 142 which is Roger Clemens good. He only has 205 RSAA (a good total) due to a very short career.

In 1978 the VC bent their ten year requirement and voted Joss into the HoF. His 191 win shares are the fifth lowest amongst pitchers in the HoF (Fingers, Gomez, Dean and Sutter).

over the span of his career, 1902-1910, he compiled 205 RSAA
over that same span, only Mathewson, Three Finger Brown, and Cy Young did better
that's good enough for me
