Cool Mike Myers - a baseball memory.

I never paid much attention to this guy before this past September 1st, but he made a lasting impression on me that day. I would like to share it with you...

I was taking my boss' son to a game at PacBell. He is a Rockies fan and I have a friend who has seats right by the visitor's bull pen. I thought we would go early for batting practice - see the players up close, get him a few autographs, maybe even a foul ball. But when we got to the park that day, there was no BP. As often happens at the end of the season, there was a group day on the field before the game. I was really po'd, but not much I could do. The kid scrounged around for a few players autographs, but frankly there were not many players around.

Then one guy comes out of the Rockies dugout with his glove and he comes walking down the sideline to the right field seats. He starts playing catch with a young kid in the stands. My boss' son grabs his glove and goes over to them and the 3 of them have a catch for about 10 minutes.

The player was Mike Myers. By this simple act, this guy made a lasting memory for these 2 kids (and me) - a catch with a major league ball player. He's a journeyman player that will forever be in MY Hall of Fame.

I have a chat site for the Giants that I probably posted it in, but nowhere other than that.

Steve, I had a story with some similarities about Bruce Ruffin. Maybe that is what you are thinking of.

Does all that offense make Rockies' pitchers nice guys? Just a thought.

Myers for Cust??? BWAH-HAHAHAHAH!

When the geezers break down, and Arizona wins 76 games even with Unit and Schilling, I'll throw a huge party for everyone!

Word now is that Colorado is looking to ship out Cust to improve at RP and 3B. They feel like his defensive skills make him AL material only. One rumor is to Oakland, perhaps for Luis Vizcaino.
