The Padres have agreed to trade expensive slugger Phil Nevin to the Orioles for overweight, overpaid, and underperforming P Sidney Ponson. This clearly marks the Orioles dissatisfaction with Ponson who they paid big bucks to re-acquire after the 2003 and who has performed at a well below league average level.
The snag to the trade is that Nevin has a limited no-trade clause in his contract and one of the teams he can refuse is the Orioles. Nevin is a native of Southern California and just built a new home in San Diego. A few years ago Nevinrefused tobe traded to the Reds as part of a deal to acquire Ken Griffey, Jr. Nevin has until Tuesday to accept/reject the trade. What do you think?? Will he accept or reject??

His post-season chances are better in San Diego than Baltimore, I say he stays.
Why San Diego would even TRY to trade him to a team that he CAN reject is strange.

IIRC, SD will let him rot on the bench, if he stays.
So, I would accept the deal to go and play.

Can't say I was surprised at this and I don't think the Padres should be either. I am surprised that the O's would let this go public without having already secured Nevin's approval of the trade. Ponson must be feeling pretty unloved right now.

I don't think Ponson's surprised. He's been abused everywhere this year.
