Lightbulb Lord Of The Rings - The Movie

Saw it yesterday.

It's the best three hour movie without an ending that I ever saw.

Anyone else see it?

Was a little put off by some of the changes from the book, BUT it was an extremely well made and I never got fidgety (as opposed to Harry Potter). To keep things totally true to the original the movie length would have doubled. I was very very satisfied with the movie.

Have to confess - - never read the book.

I was in awe of the location shots and the effects - - both, as good as it gets.

I have not seen this, but I did rent Swordfish this weekend. The only redeeming quality was Halle Berry exposing her breasts and even that was a little disappointing. That movie sucked.

Agreed - - - supposedly, you can see more of Halle in Monsters Ball - - - but, you'll have to watch her with Billy Bob.

I haven't read the book, but was pleased with the movie...until the end, that is. That really pissed me off.
Unlike previous movies (with sequels made or in the works), there was no resolution at the end of 3 hours. In Star Wars (or the Godfather, or any comedy or horror flick with 8 sequels), for example, each movie is its own entity. There is a conflict that is resolved by the end of the picture, and the picture is part of a greater story.
This, however, was unnerving. It seems as if they filmed the 9 hours of film, then split it into three even parts, with no regard for where the story is.
This type of marketing ploy is something I cannot agree with.

Yeah, I felt this way too - - - even a simple black screen with the words "to be continued......" would have been better than the simple cut to black and then credits.

Well, that's the way the books were put together, if memory serves me from when I read them like 10 years ago. Tolkien wrote them all at one time, as one volume, but had to split them up otherwise they'd have been encyclopedia-length.

Agreed, location shots and scenery were outstanding, and not once in that 3 hours did I feel like it was dragging.

Casting was right on too - though everytime I saw Sam I couldn't stop thinking: "Rudy!"

Rudy, a few pounds heavier, in a wig.

I saw Tom Cruise's Vanilla Sky last night. Do not make the same mistake. Very drawn out in the end. My date fell asleep It was the boring movie, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

A mistake I have already made. The ending was not even relevant to the movie's point about life and how it should be lead. It was way over the top, but not needed. I have to stop believing the reviews I read, although the one on NPR that flamed it seemed to be right on.

I have not, but spoke to many who have and the feedback is generally good. People seem to question, though, how close the story is to being true.

I've already heard that he may have been gay in real life and they make him a hetero for the flick.

As I recall the second Star Wars Movie (Episode 5) just sort of ended too, with everyone going off in different directions.
