Default He ain't heavy

Only two pitchers ever have 20+ wins seasons and won more games than walks allowed in those seasons. One is Christy Mathewson in 1913 (25-21) & 1914 (24-23). Who is the other guy?

A bunch of guys did it in the 19th century. Tommy Bond did it three times by himself.

In the modern era people will have a slim chance of figuring this out.

Sorry, my big mistake. Only two pitchers in 20th century ever did it, one is Big Six, and the other one is?

Man, this is baseball. You gotta stop thinking. Just have fun.
- Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez, in The Sandlot

I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

Have you read The Baseball Same Game?

Greg Maddux was very close in 1997 win 19 wins and 20 walks, with six of the walks being intentional.

Other guys that didn't make the 20 wins, but still qualify.

2003 Josh Towers 8 Wins, 14 G, 8 GS, 64.3 IP, 7 BB
1994 Bret Saberhagen 14 Wins, 24 G/GS, 177.3 IP, 13 BB
1970 Dick Hall 10 Wins, 32 G, 0 GS, 61.3 IP, 6 BB
1910 Deacon Phillipe 14 Wins, 31 G, 8 GS, 121.7 IP, 9 BB

That's it for guys with more than 5 wins.
(outside the answer to this trivia question)

WTG! That's right. Slim Sallee won 21 games in 1919 while allowed only 20 walks.
