Default It Wasn't Saberhagen.

Who holds the Royals club record for most consecutive scoreless innings, and in what year did he accomplish it?

If it is the guy I'm thinking of they traded him at the end of this season for a guy who hit .234 in his first season as a Royal.

Nope. I have no idea who your guess is, but it is wrong.

The same year, he pitched a one-hit complete game, but lost 1-0 as the lone hit was a solo home run by Rafael Palmiero.

The guy I think did this had a streak of 26 innings in 1972. Maybe Appier had a longer one, but I don't know.

I stand corrected. Appier had a streak of 36 innings in 1993 and he did lose a game 1-0 to Texas on a Palmeiro homer. I thougt it might be Roger Nelson who had 26 consecutive innings in 1972.

Funny, the Reds can't remember the last time they had a pitcher go 3 consecutive innings without giving up a run.....

It was Ape, but I thought his record was 33 innings.

You are probably right. I was going through Retrosheet for this info and counting up the innings. I probably made a mistake.

Here's a poser, Boom: Going into spring training, are we elated that Appier has a significant chance of making the rotation, or are we mortified that Appier actually has a significant chance of making the rotation?

It is enough to make you contemplate switching to soccer as your game of choice.
