Thumbs down The Japan Tour 2004

From November 5th through the 14th this year, a group of players from the Major Leagues will make a trip to Japan to play a series of 8 games against an All-Star team from the Japanese leagues. (Now, I say a group of Major League players because it's far from being an MLB All-Star team.)

There will be games in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Sapporo and Nagoya.

I just went to www.mlb.com. There's nothing about this series on the main index of their site. The games start in a week, and there's zip about on the official site of MLB when you first access their web page.

Now, if you want a "David Ortiz Signed Base from Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS" that's right there in plain sight at mlb.com - but, nothing on the Japan tour.

I'd like to say this is another case where baseball has shot itself in the foot - but, I'm not even sure they would be capable of that, even by accident. Common Sense 101 says there should be at least one little link on the MLB site to more on this tour.

This exclusion is just stupid.

I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

Pretty funny that two of the "american" pitchers are from Japan.

After reading that list, it may not be an All-Star team in terms of name, but the quality of players is definitely there.

Still would have been nice to see a Bonds, Ichiro, Jeter, Thome, Big Unit, A-Rod, Pujols, Mo Rivera, Beltran, or two make the squad. Then again, in defense of the Yankee players, they already bit the bullet and were just there 7 months ago.

Well, at least MLB is consistent. Honestly, I don't remember much about the "Japan Series" from past years. Two years ago stands out because the Yanks were courting Matsui, but other than that... Nothing.

What time will the games be broadcasted here?

If you have the dish with the international package- you can get it if you get Japanese channels.

I seriously doubt it will see any U.S. air time- with Football, College Football ruling on the weekends and with Basketball and Hockey(?) starting their seasons.
