Red face The Price Of A-Rod?

Or Felix Heredia?

Just got my bill for Yankee Post Season Tickets.

INDIVIDUAL ticket prices for each series:
ALDS $65 - ALCS $90 - World Series $185

In addition, there is a nonrefundable $6 processing charge for each ticket in each series.

They raised to prices from last year. LDS and LCS both up $20 per tkt and WS up $10 per seat.

And, these are seats in the Loge (middle deck).
The days of a dad taking the family of 4 to a World Series game are long gone. Who could shell out $764 for tickets, only, for just one game?

I already heard from one guy who said the best thing about these tickets is selling them, to make some dough.

I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

That pales in comparison to the money shelled out by Browns fans just for the RIGHT to buy seats. I forget how much the "personal seat licenses" for Browns games are, but they are over $1000 and you STILL have to buy actual tickets to games.

Postseason tickets are a great investment. Get together with some friends and buy a dozen, sell what you don't want at a ridiculous profit and enjoy the game with your family.

That's not the price of Rodriguez. That's the price of the Yankes knowing people will pay those prices.

I guarantee that you that if the Yankees didn't acquire Rodriguez and thought people would pay those prices, they would charge the same exact amount.

Standard NFL practice, IIRC. I think the Jets do the same thing.

Right on, bro. One of the most transparent lies owners tell is that they have to raise prices because of higher payroll. What BS. Rational capitalists--and they guys who own sports teams have figured out capitalism pretty well--set prices where the market will bear them. There is no relation to salaries.

I'd like anyone who complains that ticket prices prove that baseball players are overpaid to explain why they don't have the same animosity against grocery store workers.

It is literally impossible to walk out of a foodstore in my area without paying over $100, and if $100 is all you spend, you're not going to be doing lots of eating before you find yourself right back at the store.

If there is a correlation between prices and pay of the employees, then grocery store workers have to be making much more than baseball players.

Additionally, we see teams cut payroll all of the time.

But, if there is even a single precedent of a team cutting ticket prices that can be tied to a payroll cut, it hasn't occured in many years.

Moreover, if ticket prices were tied to payroll, you'd be able to see the Twins for a five-spot.

Crash, I'm looking at those prices and thinking they look pretty good. You don't want to know what I had to shell out to see the Yankees come to town in the ALCS last year..... Frightening thing was we almost went to NY for Game 7 also. We could have had tickets plus transport plus hotel for less than we paid for tickets here to Game 4.....

It's all about what the market will bear, whether you are buying from the team or the scalpers.

Your mention of scalpers made me just think of this: if there actually was a connection between ticket prices and salaries, as opposed to what the market will bear, that would mean that scalpers would also be charging what they do in order to meet their huge payroll.

I am A rodless (thank God!) My postseason ticket prices are exactly the same. I am paying $100 less than you BUT I am in the bleachers. I have a weekend package so I don't get my regular seats.
