Right after the Yankees game ended, I turned to Extra Innings package to find a new game to watch.
As I started to scroll through the choices, the first one I flipped to was the Rockies-Reds. And I did so just as the screen displayed a graphic showing the news that Larry Walker has accepted a trade to the Cardinals for 3 minor leaguers.

Only 1 minor leaguer (Jason Burch, Reliver in A ball) was named. The Rockies are picking up about half of Walker's remaining contract.

Holy guacamole, Batman...
If Walker is healthy (and the waters of Busch have the same restorative effect on Walker as they had on Rolen/Edmonds), the Cards can legitimately run the table this year. Going from the Big Three to the Four Horsemen...what a lineup. |

Nice pickup, but they would be better off if he was a good pitcher.

I just hate it when a team has the resources to play an All-Star at all eight starting positions.

Bernie Miklasz from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that John Gall and Chris Narveson are the other two minor leaguers.
Crash - you're right, Womack was an All-Star in 1997. Mike Matheny, on the other hand, has never made an ASG. |

So close!
I like Gall. Once had a thread on him somewhere in the forum. I'm surprised the Cards gave him up.

He seems to have some pop, but the Cardinals never really seemed that high on him. His numbers tailed off in Memphis after a hot start this year, and he's supposed to be pretty awful in the field. Plus, he's old for a prospect.

Coors will help all that.

Although the big outfield in Coors might expose his defensive shortcomings further. Of course, if Dante Bichette could last a few seasons in that outfield, maybe Gall can too.

No, he really never was. Look at those RCAA. Look at those OBA. Look at those OPS. Look at those SLG. Look at those OWP. All he really would have been was a guy invited to a some star game with him standing out as an example of why I refer to it that way.
