It makes for remarkable and sincere discourse.

I'll have an Amazon order going through soon after Christmas, and this one will be on the list. Thanks for the review - I was still wavering on getting it.

For less than $20, the ROI is huge. Plus, it's always a good reference book.

One of the things about the book that I found interesting was the choice not to include interleague games in determination of park index factors. That was the first I ever heard of considering that.

I'll be getting the book for Christmas. Looking very forward to reading it, but a little dissapointed they don't have player projections for 2004.

I'm fairly sure I'm not going to get it for Christmas - what good is a wife for, anyway - but am not about to go buy it for myself right now and take the chance of getting in big trouble.

(I have a habit every year of getting myself something I want for xmas only to find that someone had already purchased it for me as a gift)

Default The Bill James Handbook 2005

Has anyone got a copy of the 2005 Handbook yet. I ordered mine and am waiting for it to come in. It looks like they have some new stuff in there this year, including projections for 2005.

Just got this book - love it!
Great essay on "Team Efficiency' - 'tho it's creepy to read James write about the Red Sox and refer to them as "we."
Awesome and fun leader boards.
And, they've come back with projections for 2005 and for career numbers. (Only nit on this is that it looks like they've listed the last team in the bigs that a player has played for as his "current" team in the projections. For example, on Aaron Boone's 2005 projection, it has NNY, instead of CLE.)

Man, this is baseball. You gotta stop thinking. Just have fun.
- Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez, in The Sandlot

I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

Have you read The Baseball Same Game?
