Red face New York Mess-ets

I watched some of the Mets game tonight. An ugly, ugly, loss to the Cleveland Indians. Even the Mets announcers on MSG commented several times about how ugly the Mets played tonight.

In the top of the 9th, just about following a play where Zeile and Kaz Matsui 'played' a broken bat dying quail squib, that barely made it past the mound, and did not reach the infield dirt, into an infield hit, the MSG cameras went around the diamond and gave the viewer a close up of each Mets player's face........Zeile, Kaz, Wiggy, Piazza, Floyd, Cameron, and Gerald Williams.

These were tight face shots. And, each face had the same exact look - - - - total disbelief/despair combined with an expression of 'what bad can possibly happen next?'. Total defeat, seven times, with Mets' caps on top.

Something has to be done with this team or else it's going to be a repeat of last year for the Mets. What can they do?

I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

For sure they can make the symbolic change of axing Howe... but that will just be cosmetics. (Unless, of course, Howe has been doing nothing but teaching them how to play baseball incorrectly.)

Like he did with the A's?

Of course, with the A's he had no veteran primadonnas, they were mostly young kids eager to play and learn. How many of the Mets players can that be said about?

"Zeile, Kaz, Wiggy, Piazza, Floyd, Cameron, and Gerald Williams".....don't exactly fit the bill of young and eager. How many years does Zeile have left? Gerald Williams? How long until Piazza heads to the AL for a few seasons of DH? Is there ANYTHING in the Mets' farm system?

No team is as bad as it looks as when it is in a losing streak. Remember we just had a thread about them when they were playing well during a very tough stretch of games. Granted they started their swoon near the end of that patch but for a good portion of it people were pointing to how well the Mets were doing.

Actually, the Mets do have some good prospects - esp. Wright - maybe it's time to strip down and go with the kids?

But, more than likely, they'll just fired Howe. Shame, the players on the field are not his fault.

Remember how the Tribe fans screamed when they traded Robbie to the Mets for prospects? I was screaming too. But no more.

Seems to me, the GM has a lot to answer for.

That was a different GM. But, they're all puppets of the owner's son anyway. It's probably the owner that should go.
