6) Phillies 1B Jim Thome hit his 400th career HR and passed AL Kaline into 37th place on the all time HR list.

After 88 RCAA/1.122 OPS and 53 RCAA/.958 OPS seasons, Thome is hitting .682 SLG, .415 OBA, 1.096 OPS, 28 RCAA in his first 53 games. He has a .984 career OPS, compared to his league average of .773, and 556 RCAA in 1589 games.

1) On Sunday, Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez extended his consecutive games reached safely streak to 50 games.

After 58 RCAA/1.015 OPS and 53 RCAA/.995 OPS seasons, Rodriguez is hitting .542 SLG, .396 OBA, .938 OPS, 22 RCAA in his first 61 games. He has a .962 career OPS, compared to his league average of .775, and 422 RCAA in 1336 games.

2) The Angels placed C Bengie Molina on the 15 day DL, retroactive to June 4.

Molina has a strained left calf. After -27 RCAA/.596 OPS and -6 RCAA/.746 OPS seasons, he is off to a .430 SLG, .303 OBA, .733 OPS, -4 RCAA start in his first 33 games. Molina has a .688 career OPS, compared to his league average of .772, and -77 RCAA in 533 games.

3) The Orioles activated RF Jay Gibbons from the DL and sent OF Tim Raines Jr. to the minors.

After 2 RCAA/.792 OPS and 9 RCAA/.786 OPS seasons, Gibbons is hitting .400 SLG, .328 OBA, .728 OPS, -6 RCAA in his first 40 games. He has a .781 career OPS, compared to his league average of .762, and 4 RCAA in 409 games.

4) The Rangers placed CF Laynce Nix on the 15 day DL and called up OF Jason Conti.

Nix sprained his right shoulder on Sunday. After starting his career with -5 RCAA/.729 OPS in 53 games in 2003, he's hitting .583 SLG, .335 OBA, .919 OPS, 2 RCAA in his first 47 games.

Conti has -16 RCAA/.684 OPS in 160 career games.

5) The Reds called up utilityman Jermaine Clark and sent P Joe Valentine to the minors.

Clark has -8 RCAA/.426 OPS in 29 career games.

Valentine has a 15.63 ERA/-8 RSAA in 4 career games, including a 14.54 ERA/-5 RSAA in 2 games (1 start) in 2004.

6) The Cubs signed INF Ricky Gutierrez to a minor league contract.

Gutierrez has -102 RCAA/.689 OPS in 1098 career games, including a .206 SLG, .257 OBA, .463 OPS, -7 RCAA in 24 games with the 2004 Mets.

7) The Yankees traded minor league 1B Brian Myrow to the Dodgers as the player to be named later in the May 15 trade that sent P Tanyon Sturtze to the Yankees.

8) Astros SS Adam Everett had to leave yesterday's game, due to a strained left calf, and is day to day.

After -13 RCAA/.700 OPS in 128 games in 2003, his first year with more than 40 games, Everett is off to a .370 SLG, .316 OBA, .686 OPS, -7 RCAA start in his first 61 games. He has a .671 career OPS, compared to his league average of .771, and -28 RCAA in 238 games.

9) On Sunday, Brewers P Ben Sheets struck out the side on 9 pitches in the 3rd inning. Later in the same game, Astros P Brad Lidge struck out 4 batters in the 7th inning.

After 4.15 ERA/-4 RSAA and 2.45 ERA/-1 RSAA seasons, Sheets is off to a 2.66 ERA/19 RSAA start in his first 13 starts. He has a 4.19 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.25, and 8 RSAA in 106 games.

After starting his career with a 3.60 ERA/8 RSAA in 78 games in 2003 (he also pitched in 6 games in 2002), Lidge is off to a 2.65 ERA/7 RSAA start in his first 32 games.

10) The Phillies sent 2B Chase Utley to the minors.

After starting his career with -2 RCAA/.696 OPS in 43 games in 2003, Utley is off to a .449 SLG, .261 OBA, .710 OPS, -5 RCAA start in his first 29 games.

11) The Astros called up INF Eric Bruntlett and sent P Ricky Stone to the minors.

Bruntlett has -3 RCAA/.645 OPS in 34 career games, including 1 for 3, with a 2B and 1 RCAA, in 3 games in 2004.

After starting his career with 3.61 ERA/6 RSAA and 3.69 ERA/7 RSAA seasons (he also pitched in 6 games in 2001), Stone has a 5.68 ERA/-3 RSAA in his first 16 games. He has a 3.80 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.22, and 12 RSAA in 165 games.

12) The Rangers released minor league P Todd Williams.

Williams has a 5.37 ERA/-7 RSAA in 50 career games.
