1) The Royals placed SS Angel Berroa on the 15 day DL, sent P Jaime Cerda to the minors, activated P Kevin Appier from the DL, called up SS Andres Blanco and moved P Miguel Asencio from the 15 to the 60 day DL.

Cerda has a 4.41 ERA/-2 RSAA in 63 career games, including a 5.85 ERA/-6 RSAA in 27 games in 2003 and a 5.06 ERA/0 RSAA in 4 games in 2004.

Blanco, who just turned 20, was given a C rating by John Sickels and was ranked as the Royals #9 prospect by Baseball America. Prior to 2004, in 3 seasons, he never made it above Hi-A ball and he had a .299 minor league SLG, to go along with a .347 OBA.

2) The Astros sent INF Eric Bruntlett to the minors, to make room on the roster for P Chad Harville.

Bruntlett has -3 RCAA/.645 OPS in 34 career games, including 1 for 3, with a 2B and 1 RCAA, in 3 games in 2004.

3) Phillies 1B Jim Thome reached 1500 career hits.

After 66 RCAA/1.040 OPS and 88 RCAA/1.122 OPS seasons, Thome hit .573 SLG, .385 OBA, .958 OPS, 53 RCAA in 159 games in 2003 and is off to a .564 SLG, .390 OBA, .954 OPS, 2 RCAA start in his first 10 games in 2004. He has a .979 career OPS, compared to his league average of .773, and 530 RCAA in 1546 games.

4) Dodgers 2B Alex Cora had to leave yesterday's game, due to soreness in the back of his left elbow.

After -28 RCAA/.591 OPS and 11 RCAA/.805 OPS seasons, Cora had a .338 SLG, .287 OBA, .625 OPS, -21 RCAA in 148 games in 2003 and is off to a .345 SLG, .226 OBA, .571 OPS, -3 RCAA start in his first 9 games in 2004. He has a .643 career OPS, compared to his league average of .779, and -65 RCAA in 555 games.

5) The Mets re-signed P Ricky Bottalico to a minor league contract.

They had cut him at the end of spring training.

6) The Yankees activated 1B-OF Travis Lee from the DL and placed P Felix Heredia on the 15 day DL, retroactive to April 10. Meanwhile, CF Kenny Lofton and P Jorge DePaula also appear headed for the DL, with Ps Alex Graham and Scott Proctor being called up.

After -3 RCAA/.775 OPS and -2 RCAA/.725 OPS seasons, Lee hit .459 SLG, .348 OBA, .807 OPS, 9 RCAA in 145 games with the 2003 Devil Rays. The only other time he had a positive RCAA was a 2 RCAA rookie season with the 1998 Diamondbacks. Lee has a .753 career OPS, compared to his league average of .776, and -23 RCAA in 849 games.

Heredia has a bruised left index finger. After 6.17 ERA/-8 RSAA and 3.61 ERA/5 RSAA seasons, Heredia had a 2.69 ERA/15 RSAA career year in 69 games with the 2003 Reds and Yankees and is off to a 18.00 ERA/-5 RSAA start in his first 3 games in 2004. He has a 4.37 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.39, and -6 RSAA in 464 games.

7) The Indians placed P Jose Jimenez on the 15 day DL, retroactive to Monday, called up P David Lee and moved P Bob Wickman from the 15 to the 60 day DL.

Jimenez has a strained muscle in his left side. After 4.09 ERA/8 RSAA and 3.56 ERA/12 RSAA seasons, Jimenez had a 5.22 ERA/-5 RSAA in 63 games (7 starts) with the 2003 Rockies and is off to a 9.00 ERA/-2 RSAA start in his first 4 games. He has a 4.69 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.41, and 17 RSAA in 302 games (spending most of his career in Coors).

Lee has a 4.14 ERA/11 RSAA in 92 career games.

8) The Mariners activated 3B Scott Spiezio from the DL and sent P J.J. Putz to the minors.

After -3 RCAA/.764 OPS and 12 RCAA/.807 OPS seasons, Spiezio hit .453 SLG, .326 OBA, .779 OPS, 6 RCAA in 158 games with the 2003 Angels and made his 2004 debut yesterday. He has a .759 career OPS, compared to his league average of .771, and -17 RCAA in 933 games.

Putz has a 3.86 ERA/1 RSAA in 4 career games, including a 0.00 ERA/1 RSAA in 1 game (1 perfect inning) in 2004.

9) The Rockies designated P Dennis Stark for assignment and called up P Tim Harikkala.

Stark has a 5.52 ERA/-15 RSAA in 60 career games, including a 5.83 ERA/-9 RSAA in 13 starts (17 games) in 2003 and a 16.20 ERA/-10 RSAA in his first 2 starts in 2004.

Harikkala had a 9.15 ERA/-10 RSAA in 9 games with the 1995-96 Mariners and 1999 Redsox.
