I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

D'Backs prices were too low and needed an increase. The other guys raised a high price even higher.

And did you notice that only four teams have any kind of ticket discount for kids, a.k.a. The Next Generation of Fans? Savvy.

That's true with the Sox at least since they have basically zero parking and the fewest seats in baseball. It would have been nice to see some context provided. I mean, this is America, home of the free market, and since the Sox are working on the longest home sellout streak in baseball, the high prices aren't exactly turning fans away.

How would a team admin this? It's not like the movies where 90% of the tickets are bought at the window and you can see it's a kid. Most MLB tickets are bought "not face to face." So, what would a team do to make sure it is actually a kid sitting in the seat of a "kids discount ticket"?

For 2 years my ticket prices have remained the same. So has almost all of Fenway park but the bleachers. They have been decreased and the box seats, they have increased. The problem with Fenway is they do not have enough bleacher seating. No 2nd deck, no 3rd tier seating. Almost all seats in Fenway are premium seating thus higher average ticket cost.

I wish they would factoring in my parking cost. $2.75 I take the T and park outside the city like most people do.

There are ways, there are ways.

At Montreal, the ticket taker I guess. They also give a discount to seniors and either on Tues or Thurs is ladies night. They seem to know, those smarties.

I could just imagine the scene at some parks where the old guy taking the tickets (they always seem to be old guys) says to the kid "You're too old, I can't let you in with this ticket."

Then you get the senior discount. No problem.

Anyone know why LA and Ana ticket prices are so low (20th and 23rd)? I would have thought they would have been higher.

I would imagine that it's supply and demand.
Lots of other stuff to do in SoCal.

Detroit is actually cheaper than it looks too. If you pay $10.00 for parking then you've paid too much. And season and partial season ticket holders get a 10-30% discount on their tickets.

The % increase figure is a little misleading in Boston. New premium seats were installed in right field at $75-$100 apiece. The Green Monster seats were increased substantially as well. These dragged the average ticket price up. Grandstand, Outfield Grandstand and the bleachers all stayed the same.

And I agree with JR's point. With tickets practically selling out on the first weekend of sales, the prices could easily be higher.

How about deals with area schools to bring their kids at a reduced rate? Or after-school daycare places like the YMCA? Or youth sports leagues? Or youth church organizations? Or the local RBI program? Or anyone from the local children's hospital or hospice (health permitting)? Or Make-A-Wish?

I imagine most teams already have programs for these types of things, but they apparently aren't giving them any discounts. Kinda sad.
