Reading the article it is clear that Dowd was just offering an off-the-cuff opinion and nothing more. No need for anybody to get bent.
To Stein's great credit he realizes the HoF should be for players not owners.

The funny part is - - that someone would think that Selig would do anything for Stein. Hell-low!

Bud Selig and George Steinbrenner are buddies from way back, in the 1970s when Steinbrenner first bought the Yankees and Selig saw a potential ally in his work to change the management of the game.
