I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

My secret system says the A's.

A's. Halos still have a lot of holes, in spite of being much better. Seattle is done.

I'm picking the Angels. Among other things, I want Vladimir Guerrero in the playoffs and kicking ass in the process. They're the most stocked of the teams in this division.

Angels. The wheels fall off the bus in Oakland - despite Hudson and Mulder. (I expect Zito to slide this year.) M's, well, I'm not sure they are better this year. Texas, pass. Mikey S has some guns this year and should win.

The Angels - they still have holes, but so do the others in the division. Those free-agent pickups were huge, and they got an absolute steal with Guerrero (assuming he's healthy).

Tough call, but I went with the A's. Their pitching and defence may have improved slightly since last season. And their offence has as well. Barely. The Angels will make it interesting, though.

A's edge the Angels - Anaheim slugs it out with Yankees for WC

The A's still have the best pitching in the division. They should score enough runs this year to win games. Also, look for Jermaine Dye to have a comeback year. He's finally fully healthy.

What he said. The Angels are improved this year, but I suspect the A's will play .500 ball for the first half and then tear up August and September as they've done in the past.

The Mariners have missed their window.

Why are we doing this? We are just going to do it all over again in a month or so.

Hard not to pick the A's, but obviously the Angels are much improved (guys like Colon and Vlad will do that for ya), and they still haven't lost much of what took them to the series only 2 years ago. They just stumbled last year, but I think that will work to their advantage this year as they have to fight to regain their reputation as a contender.

The Angels looks better team now that two seasons ago, stronger SP with Colon and Escobar, the best MR staff in the baseball (IMHO), and Guerrero adds the kind of bat they need the last season beside Anderson. I can not say the same about the A's although they have the better trio of starters in the division in Hudson, Mulder and Zito, still they loss the offensive production of Tejada and Hernandez without reliable substitutes and will go with a rookie SS. In a pitchers park you need good hitters and Dye's comeback is the only good odd they have to support Chavez.
The M's have a nice SP staff but their offensive looks older and their outfield defense decrease in quality when they loss Cameron. I would like to see Texas improving but without pitchers in that park they are dead.

I'd say the Angels have the best collection of raw talent, flippable players, and budget room to plug holes.
