The Giants won the pennant under Bill Terry, despite a subpar year by Mel Ott, and Chuck Klein won the triple crown.

Best player: Chuck Klein. Even with the hitter's park, he led the league in OPS+. Berger and Vaughan (in his second year) were great too.

Best pitcher: Carl Hubbell over a strong field. The NL is definitely getting more competitive about now, and Hubbell shone with a 23-12 record and 1.66 ERA.

Best Hitter: Chuck Klein
Berger was probably the best for quality but didn't play nearly as many games as Klein. I guess I could make an arguement for Arky Vaughan too.

Best pitcher: Carl Hubbell
Not even close. Hubbell was the best by far. He posted a 23-12 record and a 193 ERA+. This was probably Hubbell's best year.
