Best player: Babe Ruth. I'd rank it Ruth, Gehrig, Simmons this year, but Babe and Lou didn't have the supporting cast that Bucketfoot Al did.

Best pitcher: Lefty Grove. Won pitching triple crown, pretty much silencing all debate here. Also led in saves.

Best rookie: Ben Chapman, a .316 average and 116 OPS+ as Yankees 3B, moved in 1931 to the outfield.

Best Hitter: Lou Gehrig
I knew Gehrig was good but I think he's even better than I thoguht. Gehrig edges out Ruth by coming within 8 points in OPS+ but coming to the plate many more times than Ruth. Gehrig had 174 RBIs and 41 HR and was second to Ruth in both OBP and SLG%

Best Pitcher: Lefty Grove
Grove is again the best pitcher with a Pedroesque season. Grove went 28-5 in 291 innings while having an ERA+ of 185.
