Default Super Scout

If you are looking for a good "older" book about baseball I would pick up "Super Scout" by Jim Russo.

For a 20 year old kid like me who is dreaming to becoming a scout the book was very very good. Plus, it told me the stories of some of the great players that I am to young to have ever seen.

Russo's book is an entertaining, quick read that I would suggest that all of you read.

I read it a long time ago - and remember it being OK too.

Default Super Scout

Since today is sadly the day that Jim Russo has passed away I thought I would start a thread about "Super Scout" which I think is a terriffic book. I wanted to get some thoughts on the book and see what you all thought of it.

LBF - you already once started a thread on this book - so, I have merged your post above into the org. thread.

It makes for remarkable and sincere discourse.

A write-up on his passing: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/b...ports-baseball

If anyone is interested in the book, it's a quick read. The hardcover was about 214 pages - with large font.

Wow, I didn't even remember that post. I agree, the book is a good, easy read and very entertaining for those interested in scouting. With all of the focus on sabermetrics I think that old time scouting has been somewhat lost and this book is a great profile of one of those scouts.
