AP story in the Hartford Courant :
"MASHANTUCKET, Conn. -- A few weeks after admitting he bet on baseball, Pete Rose is coming to an eastern Connecticut casino to sign his recently published book and dine with high-rollers." http://www.ctnow.com/news/local/stat...,2133699.story

It's a move that certainly doesn't help his image problem with the baseball hierarchy but it certainly isn't illegal or immoral. The late night comedians couldn't be happier.

Pete's handlers should be ... well, I can't think of the proper torture technique, but I'm open to suggestions.

How many times is this guy going to give baseball the finger before Selig makes a decision? I mean, he's got to be deliberately shoving this in baseball's face, right? Or, is it true that w/ Pete Rose, priorities are #1) promoting Pete Rose, #2) anything for a buck & a distant #3) baseball. Or is this guy just the dumbest son of a bitch to come down the pike since Marge Schott?

I read this in the morning paper and concluded it was Pete's concession speech. Now, he's too egomaniacal to quit telling people he belongs in the baseball and in the HOF, that he has no "gambling problem," but in the vapor trails of the nearly universal negative reaction to his book and negative reaction to his admitting he bet on baseball, even Pete understands his situation is quite likely to remain as is when they're tossing dirt onto his casket.

The depths of human idiocy will never cease to amaze me. When I'm done laughing at this latest example, maybe I can offer a coherent response.

Sadly T, the word "sycophant" doesn't begin to describe them. I imagine most of us become yes-men in the company of our heroes, at least at first, but eventually, most of us see them as human and fallible.
