Only 2 players have won batting titles despite their average dropping 15 points or more from the previous season. Who are they?

I must be missing something
Gwynn 1987 .370 1988 .313 1994 .394 1995 .368 1996 .353 Also, a quick inspection of the year by year leaders shows there are several others who won two in a row where the second year BA was at least .015 lower the first year. For example, just in the AL since 1950: Carew '77 to '78 .388 to .333 Yaz '67 to '68 .326 to .301 Williams '57 to '58 .388 to .328 Fain '52 to '53 .344 to .327 |

Can I be an ass and say Tony Oliva?
I mean, his average was WAY lower than what he had when he got his first batting title... |

No, you're not missing anything. I forgot to specify something in my question - I'm looking for the 2 guys who won despite the average drop, but who didn't win the batting title in the previous season. So they had a much higher average the year before, but didn't win the title. For example, a guy would hit .350 and finish second, then hit .335 the next season but win the title. Sorry for the confusion - I completely missed the wording. |

Any guesses?
One guy did it relatively recently, another a long time ago. |

I knew the Puckett one - and cheated on the Honus one.....Surprising how few times: a) the difference was negative 15 points b) it wasn't a repeat guy c) that the guy who won had been better the year before |
