Who holds the record for most games with four or more hits in a single season (not counting walks as hits in 1887, of course
)? How many of these 4+ hit games did he have? |

He's also one of the few players to have 4 games with 5 or more hits in each one...

Puckett and Nomar would be good candidates, but they don't share the record for most 5-hit games in one season...this guy played in an era a while back.

Cobb was one of the few players to have 4 5-hit games in one season, but this is one record he didn't hold sometime during his career

I'll guess Hugh Duffy with about 11 four hit games in 1894

does duffy count as pre-1900, since his career ended well into the 20th century?

Would it depend on the season when he had the four hit games? |

I've got a wee bit of a feeling I know the guy, but not knowing how many games it was gives me the willies.

Duffy comes a close second with 13 games in 1894. I can only think of one tip that would help answer this one, but I'll hold off for just a little longer...
Also, it's not Keeler. Although he would be one I'd expect to possibly hold this record, he didn't have 4 5-hit games in a single season during his career (to tie the record). |
