A lot of the "insider" baseball jargon doesn't usually become public for a while. I think the fans have some slang and the players have others.

I bet we can't print some of the players' slang....

Yep, and how do you suppose a guy named "Randy Johnson" gets a nickname like "Big Unit"? You can't make this stuff up.

Giambi seems like the sort of fellow who uses whatever slang comes to his mind when talking to the media. I am pretty sure I never heard the term "jimmy-jack" until I heard him say it in an interview in 2000.

Still, others seemed to know what "rake" meant so it must have got around a little.

I liked the interview. He seemed modest and gave credit to not only Jeter but to Tino as well. He acknowledged he would be in Tino's position exiting one day but that's life. Tino was in Jason's spot when Donnie Baseball exited in 1995. At least Jason said he wanted to "fit in" w/his teammates, which seems like a good plan.

I wouldn't mind having all these slangs to add to the "Baseball Lingo" about a page back under "History". Anyone know all the terms?
Skip, yes, .
