The agent for Irod and Maddix (Boras) thinks these guys ought to get monster contracts worthy of great players. Neither is nothing put a nice player now. I don't know what the hold up with Guerrero is. He has a monster offer from the O's but hasn't agreed to it. Nothing special about the rest of those guys.

Lidle just got signed so there needs to be a call-up.

I guarantee you that a team like that could get a .500 or so record, may even be a wild card contender. It really doesn't look all that bad. No wonder they talk about collusion...(but that's a different post)

That's OK, even without Lidle there's still 5 SPs.

I bet that by Jan 5 or so most of these guys will be signed. My guess is that most front offices are on vacation. I seem to recall that there still some decent names (maybe not as many) unsigned.

Where they can fit better? Only as a game let me assume this with all the errors that can be done:

C Ivan Rodriguez -- Dodgers or Cubs
1B Fred McGriff -- Yankees, SF
2B Robert Alomar -- Colorado, Arizona or Cincinnati (only looking hitters parks)
3B Todd Zeile -- retirement
SS Rich Aurilia -- Seattle, Chisox, Toronto
RF Raul Mondesi -- Arizona
CF Vladimir Guerrero -- Baltimore, NYM, Dodgers, SF
LF Juan Gonzalez -- Dodgers, Baltimore
DH Rafael Palmeiro -- Yankees, Montreal, St. Louis

SP Greg Maddux -- SD, St,Louis
SP Sidney Ponson -- Dodgers, St.Louis, Baltimore
SP Kenny Rogers -- Dodgers
SP Shawn Estes -- Dodgers, Mets

RP Jeff Nelson -- St.Louis, Chisox
RP Mike Williams -- ?
RP Mike DeJean -- ?
RP Terry Adams -- ?
RP Ugueth Urbina -- Mets, Chisox
