Default Horrific Teams You Recall

My fault, I just brought up the mid-80's Braves when they banked the world on Raffy Ramirez, Andres Thomas and Gerald Perry. And Dion James! (Who can forget him!)

Rotten teams intrigue me. One of my favorite teams to study is the 1971 San Diego Padres.

And being a Cubs fan, I've seen several bad teams, with the 1981 set being most foul. (Joe Strain? Mike Tyson (NOT HIM)? And you have to love it when your 3B has an OBP and SLG under .285).

Any really awful, laughable teams come to mind that you sit and wonder, what the heck were they thinking???

I can remember the collapse of the Yankees dynasty in 1965 and '66. It was a team of players who just couldn't get the job done anymore. The starting line up in 66 was identical to 1964 with the exception of Horace Clarke for Tony Kubek yet they lost 26 more games and went from 1st to 10th.

Aging veterans, careers that went into a tailspin, and suddenly you had a team competing with the crosstown Mets for the worst in baseball.

The Pirates of the 1950's come to mind. Those were some awful teams.

Don't laugh - I thought the 1999 Seattle Mariners were a lousy team.

They ONLY had 2 starting pitchers and 3 hitters - - the rest of the team was

What do they do? Get rid of two of those hitters, and 3 years later set the record for wins in a season. Not bad.
