Default Who I am?

I was a long time leadoffman carrer and a well reputed glove, and three times in 20 years, I hit 200+ hits adding other time with 198 and other one with 195 hits. The first five most similars batters to me by baseball-reference are all in the HOF, although I don't know if they belongs there. But my carrer OPS+ was .87 !

I believe that would be Doc Cramer. Nellie Fox is probably on the low end of HoF, but still a solid pick, IMO.

Nice work, hopbitters. Welcome. If you get a chance, you may want to go over to the Icebreakers Forum and tell us a little about yourself.

As a group Doc's Hof comps are a pretty shaky group. All low enders at best. Only Richie Ashburn would qualify in the top 200 of all ML batters in RSAA.

Default That's correct

Yes, Doc Cramer is the answer.
Looks as he survived 20 seasons based only in his glove and slapping the ball all the time. Incredible that in five years and 3111 games played with the Red Sox he hit only 1 Hr!
In his last 13 seasons, from 1936 until 1948, he had always OPS lower than the league and only two times in that period an OBP higher than the league, which is incredible for a leadoffman.
However, with all this disqualification as hitter, he arranged to score an average of 102 runs each year meanwhile was leadingoff with the Red Sox. Of course, the real cause have the names of Jimmy Foxx (134 RBI average in that lapse of time with the Red Sox), a young Ted Williams and Joe Cronin as main subject.
