Cool Current Actor Hat Trickers

How many current actors have starred in, and successfully carried, a drama, a comedy, and an action flick - all three?

Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes and Kurt Russell come to mind. Others?

Jar Jar Binks - all in the same movie.

Actually, what comedy did Wesley star in and carry? The only comedy I can think of is Major League, I certainly don't think he carried it - even 'starring' (as part of an ensemble) is questionable.

Red face mel Gibson in a comedy

...that was, well, funny? Brice willis?...Um Alec Guinnes comes to mind when someone talks about versatility.Besides taking themselves way too seriously, these three have little to do with acting per se...and more with P.R.

Was "Saving Private Ryan" an action flick? If so, you gotta consider Tom Hanks.

Gene Hackman starred in at least one comedy. Ditto Clint Eastwood, who carried every movie he was in.

Pat, you sound like a grumpy old man!

I'm not a great fan of Bruce Willis and/or Mel Gibson, but I think both are decent actors.

I'm with you, though, on Wesley Snipes. I haven't like any of his comedies.

If that new comedy from the Farrelly brothers is good, then Matt Damon could join this list - I thought he was a good action character in The Bourne Identity, and he's done several excellent dramas.

Has DeNiro ever done an action flick along the lines of Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Blade, Escape from NY?

Wasnt he in Ronan/Ronin (something like that) - it was basically an action movie, maybe more drama than Die Hard, but still basically action I thought. Pretty fuzzy line to draw, I suppose.

We've yet to nominate Keanu Reeves - the Matrix films for action, comedy in The Replacements and the Bill/Ted flicks, and numerous dramas (The Gift, Little Buddha).

I won't make the same claim for Keanu that Trev did with Deniro - and with good reason - but he's certainly done well for a guy people love to mock.

An off-beat selection... Brendan Fraser. He had an excellent dramatic role in Gods And Monsters, starred in several action flicks including The Mummy and has starred in quite a few comedies ( a lot of them bad however).

Regarding DeNiro, I guess you'd call "Backdraft" an action flick. Same with a lot of his movies, he throws himself into a role. How about "Raging Bull"?

Another actor with the hat trick is Nicholas Cage.

Actresses falling in this category might include Sigourney Weaver and Whoopi Goldberg. And of course, Drew Barrymore.

You gotta have Clint Eastwood in this mix. Not normally thought of as comedic but "Bronco Billy" and "Every Which Way But Loose" were very funny.
