POSTING TIP FOR THE DAY: When composing a post, think about what you would say if the intended recipient was an individual who was actually sitting just two feet in front of you, in person, rather than just some far away and anonymous audience who only can identify you as text on a PC screen - - and then write your post in that manner. It makes for remarkable and sincere discourse.

Interesting, and entirely possible. Of course, where player D signs is often dependent on where players A, B, and C sign. So one signing depends heavily on another. I think these are likely more accurate than espn.com's predictions.

Thanks - to be honest, sometimes I look at the ESPN.com predictions and wonder what they may be smokin.'

Of course, I know what I'm smokin'......

A lot depends on where Vlad, the obvious plum, signs. The team that doesn't get Guerrero will go after Sheffield heavily, and so on. A team that loses out to the end might be predisposed to sign Juan Gone for a bargain deal.

Domino theory.

And, then, after that, there's the bargain bin of Reggie Sanders, Brian Jordan, Mondesi, etc..........

I'm not so sure. With Barry's career winding down the Giants just might sign a big ticket long term deal with a slugger to prepare for Barry's derparture. At least that's what I'm hoping. A signing like that would revitalize the team yet again. Of course trying to predict signings is like to predict anything else. So, you might be right on this one, Steve.

A fine job on the column as usual.

Still think Petitte goes home to Houston, though.

Thanks. I wonder, who is a potential FA when Barry's deal is up? If the G-men are tracking that, that may influence a decision on signing someone now.

Most close to the Yankees would be shocked by this. Pettitte has said all along that he could never consider himself as anything but a Yankee. All this - the filing, etc. - is union/agent stuff required to ensure he gets as much $ from Stein as possible.

After what happened to Glavine last year, do you think that Maddux gets a 3-year deal?

Knowing his agent, he will not sign for a 2 year deal.

Not a chance unless he and Boras get uncommonly reasonable.

It's early, and already my predictions are going south!

I need a 2nd half comeback.
