Default Burnitz traded

The Mets traded Jeromy Burnitz to the Dodgers for 3 minor leaguers.

Who are the three minor leaguers? Are any of them prospects, or is this a salary dump?

Is Burnitz really the answer the Dodgers are looking for? Again, I think their main problem is with the top of the lineup more than the guys driving them in. I guess he can't hurt, anyway.

No report yet on the minor leaguers, as far as I've seen. I hope they didn't give up much.

He's a short-term strategy. The long-term prospects for the Dodgers are not good; they have to win now, or start over.

To that extent, it's not a bad pickup, if they gave away minor leaguers who are more suspect than prospect. Burnitz isn't a superstar, but he DOES fill a need that the Dodgers have RIGHT NOW! Just because it's a short-term strategy doesn't mean it's a bad one.

Agreed - I just thought they would have gone for a bigger deal. Maybe they're still working on something else.

I think the Dodgers are not done trading. They have been trying to off-load Odalis Perez and his big mouth. I think there may be a table setter (Kenny Lofton?) trade in the works.

Burnitz is not a bad pick up for them at this point. Their offense is so anemic anyone who can swing the bat helps.

I think this is a good move for the Dodgers. Burnitz is playing well so far this year, and they need a bat...

as Lee pointed out in today's ATM,
Quote:
Burnitz became the 8th player to have a double digit positive RCAA and a double digit negative figure for different teams in the same season--
