Lightbulb MLB DVD - 100 Years of the World Series

See: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...etshrinecom-20

Has anyone seen this yet? Anything you can share?

If you didn't know about - and now do - is this something you would watch? Would you rent it or buy it?

It makes for remarkable and sincere discourse.

Sounds awfully cool....but even at 240 minutes, how much depth can there be? Still, something I'd like to have.

It's nice to see MLB getting into the DVD market.
Think of all the future possibilites, it would be great to see them come out with entire world series, classic games, or a yearly season highlight film for a team (ala NFL films) on DVD.

They are making an effort.

In 1998, MLB Productions, which produces This Week In Baseball and the recently released 100th anniversary of the World Series DVD, was revamped and brought in-house under baseball's umbrella rather than using outside crews. MLB Productions began shooting on film rather than video, making for a more appealing look. This year, the crew is shooting on High Definition videotape for the first time, so that when the technology is more widely available, a higher quality DVD will be released.

Fortunato doesn't root for either team, merely for a seven-game series to increase the drama and in turn, sales. This year's DVD is expected to be released Nov. 18 and cost $19.95.

According to Q Video, the DVD of the 2001 World Series in which the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Yankees in seven games, sold 175,000 copies. Last year's Angels-Giants DVD sold about 150,000 copies.

In addition to filming the games, the crew shoots player interviews, tailgating, and intersperses those scenes with shots of downtown Miami and beaches. They also catch moments that no one else sees, such as Pudge Rodriguez and other Marlins getting last-minute haircuts before Game 3, or manager Jack McKeon lighting up his first cigar of the day in the stadium parking lot.
