Bonds's 303 RCAA were the most in the majors since Mickey Mantle's 337, from 1956-58, and were the most in the NL since Rogers Hornsby's 316, from 1923-25. Hornsby was the only player in NL history to have higher 3 year figures than Bonds.

It was the 5th time Bonds led the majors (he led 3 times in a row, from 1990-92 to 1992-94, and 1995-97) and the 9th time he led the NL (he led 8 times in a row, from 1989-91 to 1996-98).
