Yes, I am surprised by that, but Stanley (3618 PAs) barely qualified. In fact, of the group listed, only ARod and Jeter had fewer PAs, but still met the qualification, and neither were playing ball in '93. ARod hit the seen in '94 and Jeter in '95.

Juan Gone had 4389 PA during that span - - good enough for a 4th place finish in the MVP in 1993, a 9th place finish in 1997, a 13th place finish in 1999 - - and an actual MVP in both 1996 and 1998.

Stanley had 82% of the PA that Gonzalez had in the same period. So, it's not exactlty like he was a scrubeenie.
