Default Curse of the WS MVP?

Saw this: http://www.netshrine.com/vbulletin2/...ad.php?t=11378

And, it made me think - look at the last 20 years of WS MVPs - and the season or career that each had afterwards. Is there a curse of the WS MVP?

It makes for remarkable and sincere discourse.

Default looking just at the season after

2002 Glaus (2003 - season ended by injury)
2001 Schilling/Johnson
2000 Jeter
1999 Rivera (2000 - his worst season, at 2.85 era)
1998 Brosius (1999 - drops from .300 to .247)
1997 Livan (1998 - mediocre first full season)
1996 Wetteland
1995 Glavine
1993 Molitor
1992 Borders (1993 - realized he was still pat borders)
1991 Morris (1992 - wins 21 gms despite being a lg avg pitcher)
1990 Rijo
1989 Stewart
1988 Hershiser
1987 Viola
1986 Knight (1987 - becomes mediocre in BAL)
1985 Saberhagen (1986 - has an off yr, but still lg avg)
1984 Trammell (1985 - has an off year, but still lg avg)
1983 Dempsey (1984 - has power surge, still crappy hitter)

so maybe half of those guys had setbacks following their mvp's....

Curse? No way. It's just the way things shake out at times.

plus, a post-season mvp is awarded to a player who got hot for a couple of games while playing for a strong team... sometimes this is a superstar, sometimes it's pat borders

You can knock him all you want, but Borders is still wearing a major league uniform. A lot of those guys on that list are not, and only a handful of forty-something hitters are.

I must confess to not seeing any sort of pattern emerge from the list of WS MVPs. Bob "Hurricane" Hazel anyone ?

How could any wrong that he did compare with that?" - John Sears
