Ask NetShrine/The Curator
Who out there has always wanted to play the role of interviewer?
I thought it would be a useful thing to have a thread, which I could point to later, where all "the questions and answers about NetShrine" could be found. Do you have a question about NetShrine, or me (within reason)? If so, post them here and I will answer them as quick as possible and as best that I can. Ask as many as you want - but, if possible, keep it to one question per post. Just makes it easier to handle them, for me. Thanks.

Not as many as some would think. On average, per day, I'm on the NDF about two and a half hours per day. Given that I probably only have about 7 "free" hours per day, that's a big chunk of my "disposable" (non-working) time. I do check ESPN.com's baseball page every day. A few times a week, I might "google" the term "baseball" in their "news search" to see what comes up. I check baseball-links.com about two times a month. Once in a blue moon, I check Baseball Primer and Baseball Prospectus. As a Yankee fan, a may check nyyfans.com's forums a couple of times a year - usually around season ticket order and delivery time, just to see if anyone else got their ticket invoices or packages. But, honestly, between the "Latest News In Baseball" link at NetShrine, and the NDF itself (esp. given the ATM forums), it's all I need for keeping up with baseball these days. I don't even need to watch ESPN as much. I've seen "Baseball Tonight" maybe eight times this year. Four years ago, I had to watch it every night.

I'd also add that Steve visits Baseball Primer....or maybe that's just this morning to talk about Pete Rose.

Why have you kept "Wolf Hopper" after 2,000 posts? In the past you changed when you hit that mark.

Thanks. The latter first - - if you saw "Netshrine" would you really know how to pronounce it? Maybe? Maybe not? With the capital "S," it helps people know that the name of the site is "Net - Shrine." OK, why "NetShrine"? We really have AOL to thank, in a way. Back in 1998, when I got the idea for the site, I was using AOL for my ISP and e-mail address. I wanted the e-mail address to be the same as the site name; but, with AOL back then, you were limited to just 9 characters in an e-mail name. Further, as anyone with an AOL account knows, esp. back then, just about any word you could think of was already taken by someone else. These two factors eliminated a lot of my choices. Second, I wanted something that tied into what the site was about. Third, I wanted something easy to remember. I played with a number of ideas to fit the AOL restriction, site related name, easy to remember equation - one night, seems like it was yesterday (not 5 years ago) coming home from work, stuck in traffic, on the express bus - and "NetShrine" was the winner. BTW, in case someone doesn't get it - - "Net" is short for "Internet" and "Shrine" is what you think it is - - - remember, when "NetShrine" was first launched, it was "just" the "NetShrine Gallery" - - - - that was the sole original intent of the site, before it evolved like it did.

I've changed my hairstyle, so many times now, I don't know what I look like..... Something like that. Plus the fact that I rarely look at my post count anymore. Until you said it, I had no idea it was so high for the Hopper.

Keep the Hopper! Just don't bring back the frog!
Name your favorite underrated player and what wing does he reside and is he the reason for the shrine?
