My real hero was always my father, the recently departed CDR Paul L. Dennis, USN (ret.). I only wish I had his integrity and sense of duty and honor.

My sporting hero was Carl Yastrzemski
My political hero was Barry Goldwater, who was one of the last honest politicians

How could any wrong that he did compare with that?" - John Sears

My dad was also a (not so) recently departed USN CDR. Small world.

You know though, I don't think I have a 'hero' ... at least no one comes immediately to mind. That's sad.

Talking Its very tough

..for me. Gandhi, obviously, for his integrity and showing the world another way...Fr. Daniel Berrigan,S.J.,priest,poet activist, friend.Willaim Blake....and a man named Tom R., who through patience that defies any known boundary, has listened ,cajoled, and carried me through the past 20 1/2 years of sobriety.

Guys - this topic is a reach for the "entertainment" forum

See: http://www.netshrine.com/vbulletin2/...ead.php?t=8146

It's too close to being a "Just Shooting It" topic - which the NDF no longer supports.

Sorry. I have to kill this one. If you would like to discuss, send me a PM or e-mail to curator@netshrine.com

Thanks

POSTING TIP FOR THE DAY: When composing a post, think about what you would say if the intended recipient was an individual who was actually sitting just two feet in front of you, in person, rather than just some far away and anonymous audience who only can identify you as text on a PC screen - - and then write your post in that manner. It makes for remarkable and sincere discourse.
